About the project

For client Union Pacific, protective shields in the shape of the company logo were designed at the agency Gloss Postproduction in Hamburg. The goal was to create various design versions and visualise them photorealistically. Rhino 3D was used for modeling — ideal for initial drafts and experimenting with complex shapes. The final execution was done in Cinema 4D, which was particularly suited for distributing the many screws on the shield: with MoGraph, the screws could be efficiently and evenly placed across the surface. The result is several design variants of the protective shield, differing in material, level of detail and overall appearance — from a technical-industrial look to a polished presentation version.

Ad campaign

The shield was integrated into several ad motifs — as a striking object within an American city scene, embedded in the "Building America" campaign.
